This month is finding three different units happening in our room.
* The First graders are continuing to work on their concert. Students are now able to sing through most of their songs independently, and are getting excited to "teach" the audience all of the musical information that we have been learning! We are looking forward to seeing you there!
* The Second graders are focusing on FORM and MELODY this month. Students have been using parachutes, bean bags, ribbon wands and their body to further their understanding MELODY, specifically when it is high or low. Students have also begun composing melodies and determining their FORM. The form is how the music is made up. Most popular songs have an AB form: A is the verse and B is the chorus. Students are learning how to determine the form, and why it is important.
* Kindergarten, Young Fives, and Transitional First grade students have been experiencing different melodic lines, and being introduced to the idea that melody can go up or down. Students have been using their bodies, bean bags, and ribbon wands to be able to show the direction of the melody. Students have also been learning that Tempo means speed, and how to use them in our classroom.
As always, we are focusing on being nice, having fun, and experiencing music every day!
